Lesson Policies for Fort Collins

These apply to my studio in Fort Collins and online. Check with Guitars, Etc. for their policies.

  • Lessons are available at my studio or via video chat.
  • I normally teach one-on-one. If you would like to book lessons for a group, please email me.
  • I book in multiples of 30 minutes. I do not currently offer 45 minute lessons.
  • Weekly lessons spots are always the same day and time. There are a few weeks off each year, you can check the calendar for the current schedule.
  • Single lessons are booked for a specific date and time. Please be sure you will be available for the lesson before booking.
  • I am in US Mountain time and Colorado observes Daylight Savings Time. We vary between UTC-7:00 and UTC-6:00 depending on the time of year. Double check with me on times if you’re booking from another time zone.


  • Please be on time.
  • If you are going to be late, please email vic@vicdillahay.com or call or text (970) 682-4842. I may leave or start the next lesson if you are more than 10 minutes late without notice.
  • Please let me know as soon as possible if you are going to miss a lesson. I will record a lesson for you during your time.
  • Please do not skip lessons because you haven’t practiced. We can always review and it’s a great opportunity to work on practice strategies.
  • I cannot reschedule missed lessons.


  • If you feel travel conditions are unsafe, please call or text me at (970) 682-4842. We can do a video chat or recorded lesson instead.
  • If Boomer Music is closed, all lessons will be recorded or by video chat. I will normally also move lessons online if Fort Collins is on accident alert.
  • I’ll let you know if lessons are moved online by 10:00am via text or email. I may also make the change later in the day if the weather changes suddenly.

Illness and Injury

  • Pain while playing an instrument is bad. If you experience pain while playing, stop and see a doctor as soon as possible.
  • If you need to cancel due to illness or injury, please contact me as soon as you can so we can switch to a recorded or a video chat lesson instead.
  • Please do not risk your and your fellow students’ health by coming to the studio while you are ill. If you contagious or are too sick to play, I will send you home immediately.
  • If I am sick, we will switch to either video chat or a recorded lesson.


  • Tuition for weekly half-hour lessons is $120 per month.
  • Tuition for weekly hour lessons is $240 per month.
  • Single lessons are $80 per booked hour.
  • There are a total of 15 weekly lessons in each 4 month term (January through April, May through August, and September through December). Weekly lessons work out to $64 per hour ($32 per half-hour), a savings of 20% versus single lessons.
  • You can stop weekly lessons at the end of any month and there is no cancellation fee. If possible, please let me know at least two weeks before dropping lessons.


  • Payment for single lessons is due in full when the lesson is scheduled.
  • Tuition for weekly lessons is due by the date on the invoice. A $15 late fee will be added to unpaid invoices on the 3rd day after the due date.
  • You will be emailed an invoice for lessons. This may be paid online by eCheck, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, or PayPal. You may also pay in person by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express.
  • There are no refunds for lessons except in the case of my unscheduled absence. If I am unable to teach a lesson I will refund the full amount of the single lesson payment or $32.00 per missed half-hour for monthly lessons.
