Peace and Harmony (2003)

Description:

An installation for Christmas. Four different carols are deconstructed and played through multiple locations. Listeners percieve different carols depending on position.

Hardware:

Computer (Mad Dan) running SuSe Linux
M-Audio Delta 110
Mackie Powered Monitors for playback

Software:

Csound for manipulation
ecasound for playback

Notes:

The best executed of 2003’s installations, “Peace and Harmony” is one of my favorite pieces. I reused the position-dependent experience idea from “Sympatico”, but used harmonious familiar melodies rather than composing around embedded tunes. This was also the only installation to remain active throughout its intended run.
